Daisy Dukes are very short, tight fitting denim shorts.
They get their name from Daisy Duke (played by Catherine Bach, I think) - a female character in the American TV show 'The Dukes of Hazard' (which was made into a film earlier this year, starring Jessica Simpson as Daisy Duke).
In the show and movie, Daisy often wears very short, tight shorts, so that style of shorts got the nickname 'Daisy Dukes'.

Hot pants are not typically denim. To add to what missdaredevil said, daisy dukes are typically cut-offs. |

I have seen pictures of Daisy on the internet and to me the shorts she is wearing are the same as what I would call hot pants. |

blossom - daisy dukes might look hot to you, or sexy...whatever. they are definitely NOT hot pants. hot pants are long, tight, and not made of denim. the term has less to do with how they look on a person. i would never wear daisy dukes - that's just gross, but i might wear hot pants, with a longer t-shirt or sweat shirt. iitimone7 |
