Hi teachers,
Kindly examine the following:
Tom does a very stressful but interesting job.He is a builder and he usually works abroad. At the moment he is working in England;his company is building a new port.
He misses his family in Pakistan and he visits them when he can.
The job he is on at the moment is well-paid and he (saves/is saving)quite a bit of money.

My question is which is the best tense for the verb (save) in this context?
Do you agree with me that the present continuous is the best answer because Tony is doing a temporary action (saving) from his temporary job in England?
Thank you Very Happy

Hello, Learner33:

Comments:

Yes, I agree that is saving is more appropriate than savesand for the reason that you gave: is saving indicates an action that is temporary (since the job is described is one he is on at the moment). Simple present tense (saves) would be used to indicate a repeated or habitual action, but that is not appropriate here.

I hope these comments are useful.

Sincerely,

D. Oliver
