Here is a sentence taken from a cloze test: The thief lifted the jar, poured the rice out on the place where he had just spread his coat and squatted down to _____ it.

A. get B hold C.grasp D. feel

Would you please tell me which choice is correct?

Not much context there, but I would go with "feel" it. I say this because by putting it on the coat he may be sifting through the rice for diamonds or something?

Also, by verture of having the rice in his posession, the other options don't add up in a way.
