when I watched FRIENDS, I found the usage of There you go appear for many times. But I still have no exact idea what it actully means.

About 1 year ago, I talked to a German guy on MSN. the following was the conversation between me and him. RR means me, G means the German guy.

RR: sorry, I am off now, see you other time.
G: wait a sec! can I ask you for something?
RR: yeah, but you'd better be fast, because I have a class in 20 mins.
G: Alright, do you have a webcam?
RR: yeah, why?
G: can you tak off all your clothes and show me your boobs and a-ss? I love Asian women.
RR: sorry. I can't. first of all, you have to kiss all German a-sses one by one, that way, you can get to kiss Asian a-sses.
G: but I am crazy about Asian girls.
RR: sorry, I am gonna delete you from my list. you are boring, and your english is awful. after I delete you, you can live in tons of a-sses.
G: F-U-C-K you!
RR: F-U-C-K you too
G: there you go!

The phrase 'there you go' can have different meanings in different contexts.

Sometimes it means the same as 'here you are'...

Can I have a coke please?

Sure! There you go. (as he hands her a coke)

Sometimes it means 'that's the answer you're looking for'...

My boyfriend's driving me crazy. Maybe I should talk to him about his behaviour.

There you go (you've found your own answer to the problem)

Sometimes it means 'that's what I meant / wanted' ...

*beep* you too.

There you go! (I wanted something of a sexual nature from you, and now you're talking dirty to me).


'There you go' is often used to mean 'There's the answer you were looking for' or 'That's a good solution to the problem' in 'Friends'. I've also heard many American people use the phrase 'That'll work!' to mean the same thing...

I've got so much to do today. I'm so busy!

"there you are" or "there you go" have the same meaning, it's always used when you give to a him/her something he want.
for example: there you go! I told you it was easy.
there you are, I 've bought your newspaper!

By reading your explanations, I got to know what that German guy meant. he meant I wanted to have sex with him? But I didn't!! he was a liar

I'm guessing that the German guy knew that you didn't want sex with him. He knew that 'f*ck you' meant 'get lost' or something similar.

He was using 'There you go' in an attempt to annoy you - by suggesting you were offering him sex when, of course, he knew you weren't.
