Hello, everyone.
Is each grammatically correct for the blank below?
These prehistoric cave paintings show quite clearly that the cave�s occupants ( ) by hunting, killing and eating large game animals.
1. will have lived
2. would have lived
3. lived

Hi fw,
Number 3 is most correct, but I would have used "survived."
Numbers 1 and 2 projects the occupant's (cavemen's) habits into the future. Of course, they don't exist any longer.
