If I say "My friend said..." does it mean I have only one friend? Should I say "One of my friends said..." because friends are countable?
Thanks

In my opinion, either is acceptable.

Hi Winny
Well, in my eyes, If you say "one of my friends..." , that definitely means you have more than one friend. But I wouldn't consider you have only one friend when you say" my friend said..." Because I think most of us can't have only one friend. So, to me, "my friend said" means "one of my friends said".
If I only have one friend, I think I would say "My only friend said...", and I think I will strike other people as the guy who only have one friend.
