Dear teachers and "Alias" funs

I have a question from the abc TV's program "Alias".

"The princess is sleeping; Syd dismantles a phone, creating an amplifier, and cracks the safe containing the necklace. "

This is in the episode 4 of Year3, and what do "creating an amplifier" mean in this sentence?
In my country, Alias is not broadcasted, so I don't realize the scene because I couldn't watch it.

Anyone who watched or realize this sentence's mean, please give me details.

"creating an amplifier" means:
building an amplifier,
making an amplifier,
constructing an amplifier,
from the dismantled phone.

Mr.(or Ms.?) ab

Thank you for your replying.
I would like to know further information about this situation, would you mind giving me an answer again?

That is, I can't realize the purpose of creating an amplifier from the dismantled phone.
What for did she create an amplifier, or what did she want to do with the amplifier?

Please help me, please....

Though my question might seems like a little bit silly, but I just can't understand how to use an amplifier to crack a safe. How do you use an amplifier to crack a safe? You may rest assured that I'm not a cracker or a bandit. Wink

Does amplifier mean bomb? I just know that amplifier is one that amplifies, enlarges, or extends signal. Is there something else that amplifier stands for?

Please help me Smile

An amplifier enlarges SOUND. So, she used soundwaves to crack the safe.
