"Chrincles of Narnia" is one of the best fantasy story in the world . It's first and last book of C. S. Lewis. Autor write about adventure four children. It's very long and intresting book... If you read this story, please, write about it. |

Hi Smoku,
I've read one of the chronicles of Narnia (which one - see subject), but I think them overrated. Yes, it's quite a nice little story for children, but nothing to get you thinking or nothing that remains with you after you have finished reading it. When I read it, I thought the author had just combined everything, every fantastic idea he had - no real sophistication in it....
What I can't stand is the comparison with Tolkien all the time! Yes, they were friends. Yes, they exchanged ideas. Yes, the read each other's works. And yes, Tolkien wrote fantasy stories too. BUT there is no point in comparing those two I'd say. In my opinion the Lord of the Rings trilogy is so much superior to Lewis' Narnia (which is only for children basically, in contrast to LotR). Tolkien not only created a piece of literature where he included every possible creature he could think of, but he created a whole world, a whole culture with a history and with different distinctive languages which was all so very well thought out
To those you haven't read any of the chronicles yet: Go and read them if you are interested, I enjoyed reading the book too (did it within one afternoon), but don't expect a masterpiece |
