When I'm reading an article or opinion piece by a particularly erudite political pundit, I sometimes have to check a dictionary. You can learn new words by seeing them used in context. If you can then use the word yourself in a new sentence, that helps to remember it.
Students learn new vocabulary the same way. You are given a new word (or list of words) by the teacher, shown a sentence with it, made to practice writing it several times, then make up your own sentence using your new word. _________________ "It is impossible to speak in such a way that you cannot be misunderstood." -- Karl Popper |
