Egypt's teeming cities - and almost all agricultural *activity* - are concentrated along the banks of the Nile
Is activity a plural noun?
Thanks |

Activity is a singular noun. The plural is activities. |

"Be" is in the form "are" because it refers to the cities and the activity--it means something like, "The cities and the activity are concentrated. . .," just with more extra words. |

writer's preference. maybe it sounds more educated
to say it that way. but it means exactly the same thing. |

Is it because activity here is a mass noun?
Thanks. |
