Hi, my name is Yuka Sanechika and my age is 19. I am a student of Tokuyama Womens College. I talk about housekeeping and upbringing.
I think there are differences of child-rearing between in Japan and in other countries. To put it simply, Japanese parents bring up children by overprotection, but, for example, American parents bring them up openly. Japanese children do not do things by themselves. In Japan, mothers do housekeeping naturally and fathers and children take it for granted that housekeeping is mothers job. In other countries, I think that there is no such thing. When you see a movies and dramas of other countries, there are some scenes in which the father, the mother, and the children are sharing housekeeping. For example, the father cooks, the mother does the washing, and the child does the dishes, and so on. In Japan, mothers do most of these housework. In my family, my mother and father do it anytime. My brother and I do not do it. I think we are typical Japanese children. How about your family?
Please tell me your opinions and experiences.
When you were a child, did you have some household chore in your family? If you visit someones house, and see the child cooking, doing the dishes, and so on, how do you feel about it? When you become a mother or father, will you train your child to help housekeeping?

Both my mother and my father shared the responsibilities of the house. My dad used to cook all the time (and clean too).

Take care,

Corey

In Hong Kong, most housework is shared by the family. My mother usually does the cooking, my father does the cleaning and my sister, brother and me set the table before meals, wash the dishes after meals and vacuum the floor.
Both my father and mother have to work. Therefore, sharing responsibilities in the family is important. Sometimes, when my mother is busy at work, my father will cook for us. Or if my mother is on holiday, she will clean up the house.
