well... actually i am going to South Africa in April so i'll be glad if you could tell me something about this country. All I know is just a plenty of things about Johannesburg and diamond mines... _________________ "Understand that hapiness is not based on possesions, power or prestige, but on relationships with people you love and respect"

hmm... april, that's around autumn here in s.a. if I remember correctly, the ave. temp is around 20 deg. C
sounds like you just intend to visit JHB (Johannesburg)?
You can expect to do quite a bit of travelling from place to place, and I think you'll need a map book, the roads are quite long and windy.
The north and east of jhb are the busy areas.
JHB's CBD is in sandton, (North) I'll warn you in advance, the northerners think they crap ice-creamlol!!! Personally, I think that the eastern parts of JHB is its 2nd CBD.
As for the south (my home town) well, many people say that we're the friendliest
The night life usually consists of people eating out, going for coffee, watching movies and clubbing. Oh yeah, and walking around shopping malls.
I enjoy some recreational sports, so there are also many golf courses and driving ranges dotted around the place. Carting and paintball is pretty fun. There is a theme park here in the south called Gold Reef City, this is the place to visit to find out stuff about gold mines, it's the only one that is operational for public tours. The country boasts beautiful natural environments.
I don't intend to scare you with what I'm about to say: I don't know if you've heard about the complaints about the crime here. The honest truth... if you're street smart you'll be fine. People over exaggerate the crime stories, then again maybe I've lived here too long just keep an open mind. |
