Hi

Can anyone tell me the meaning if someone says one is not "weather change well"?
I am guessing that it means one is not very adaptative to changing.

Hi Marcomb,

I believe that when someone or something "does not weather well", it means that age or change affects them in a negative manner.

The exterior of the house did not weather well. The paint started to chip after ten years.

He looked rather haggard. He did not weather well from his new job.

the definition makes sense to me, but it doesn't quit fit into the context of where I found it. But that's alright, it points to a good direction.

I found it in the movie "Jersey Girl", when Liv Tyler tells Ben Affleck not to move to New York, because Ben's daughter don't weather change well.

What happened to you the other night? / / You just sort of took off. / /lt looked to me like you guys needed a little privacy. / What l really needed was a little backup. / /She's a kid, Ollie./ / Kids don't weather change well. / /l mean, in a few years, you won't be able to keep her out of Manhattan. / /

You're right in that the sentece means, "kids don't (deal with / adapt to) change well." However, it's something that you do or don't do, not something that you are--the sentence has "kids don't weather change well," not "kids aren't weather change well."
