Tell you the truth,I hate contention!
Most people like it,because it will show how strong a person is!
To show you are strong is a good thing.
But when we are in the contention, maybe we have lost a lot of good friends!
I am one of this kind of person! My study is not bad,in each exam,I won't do it too badly!
And teachers always make names for us!
Of course,no one like to be beaten by others.
So my friends or classmates want to beat me.
At first, they get away from me slowly. And then, they are fay frome me!At last,we are almost to be enemies!
What is your opinions about it?

Winkydragonfly, I don't agree with your opinions.

sometimes I like contention indeed. however, my friends won't leave me for that. if your friends are generous and as strong as you, then you won't lose them by arguing with them.

I like arguing, because it's fun. When I was a college student, I was the champion of arguing contest in my campus. My boyfriend asked me not to take part in such contests, but I didn't listen to him. after the contest finished, he told me:"never take part in such contest again! ok? you didn't look charming and sexy when you argued with people! instead, you looked like a terrible monster!"

I answered:"really? I didn't look sexy in arguing? maybe next time I should wear a tank-top when I participate in such contests! or...I can be naked! that way I will look sexy! but I don't promise to give up such contests!"

Oh.Sorry,redrose.You haven't understood what I mean. The "contention" here means to compete, not arguing,I mean in our school, students always take exams. And then teachers will give them the names. Some of the students aren't generous enough. They can't see others in his front. So they will feel angry. And sometimes they won't have a word with the others.Though sometimes they may have some words with others, that is just cool word.

You will have to get used to it. However you don't have other choices.

NOW I get you. however, I still have the contrary opinion, compared to you. I like contention. that's exciting. you see, if I rank Number one of all classmates in some exams, I will be proud of myself; however, if I rank number 35 of 60 classmates, I would know how awful my study is, and then I can make an effort on my study, and I would analyze what kind of mistake I have made... that would be helpful to the improvement of study.

Some students think, Chinese teachers should imitate the western teacher's methods. I don't think so. I mean, Western teachers seldom rank students' mark and publish them, they think that such a method can make students keep their pride and confidences. However, IMHO, in China, the competition among students is so fierce!! as a student, if you even can't stand your teacher publishing your rank in a competition, how can you cope with those gorgeous people in the future? Compared to your future competitions in the society, school comtention is just a piece of cake. you have to get used to it, as Admiral said.

that's right. therefore, contention could be a test through which we can become a competitive person or a weak one.

Contention has two sides. One is good, the other is bad!
I said it was good, because it would make us go ahead! As Redrose said,we could find whether we went ahead or not through the contention~
But sometimes it is also bad!As weiyao said,it might cause conflicts!
A conflict was caused by contention happened to me!Now let me tell you.
I always rank number 4 or 5 or 7 of 70 classmates. So few students that aren't generous enough treat me as an emeny. They have told me that they want to beat me!But thry didn't use the fairly method!
They have done many bad things to me!
After all,I really like contenions. But contentions may cause conflicts,So I hate it!

congratulations!! you are gorgeous in your class.

As for as your jealous classmates were mentioned, let me tell you: they are much more painful than you!! believe me! even if they have done something terrible to you, they are still losers, and you are the winner!! you should feel happy!

I used to suffer from such a case as you do now, and then I felt very unhappy. but my mom told me:"don't worry...they are being jealous! they are being more painful than you! you are the winner!" Laughing

I guess my mom was right Wink

Redrose,I think your was very right!Yes,to my eyes, those persons are jealous!I should use my generosity to forgive their faults.
On the other hand,It is not worth angering with them.
Do you angry with me?

Do you know about a joke? a couple attend a party. when they are asked to introduce themselves, the husband tells people:"I am dirty, and my wife is dirty too!" people all get shocked!

Actually, the husband wants to tell people:"I am thirty, and my wife is thirty-two." Laughing he has a problem with his pronunciation. I have the same problem. fortunately, now I am not "dirty" anymore! Laughing

That's a funny joke.Sometimes I will make some jokes in English.
Because I didn't write carefully. When I chated with others.I have made the same mistake.A friend asked me "How old are you?"Then I answered happily:"Forty!" Rolling Eyes Crying or Very sad
In fact,I wanted to type the word"fourteen"!
