1. What is a divided highway?
2. A harware store sells tools, nails, plumbing supplies, etc.
How many dots do we need after "etc."? Sometimes I see 3 dots and sometimes just one. I am confused.
3. What do we have to capitalize North, South, East ,and West?
Do you write "go East"? _________________ Mimi |

A road with a median between the two directions of traffic. The median is usually grass.

One period is correct, because you only use one period when abbreviating a word. When you see 3 periods, it either means there is more after that but wasn't written, or its just an error on the author's part.

Yes and no. When talking about a direction, like "go east", it would not be capitalized. When you are talking about the North (capitalized), you are talking about a physical location. In the United States, for example, we say, "the Northeast", referring to the northeastern part of the country. |
