|

"Listen to what I say carefully, and you surely cannot fail to understand my true intentino."
This is what my textbook sais.
I looked through dictionaries and references, but it doesn't make sense
why "surely" is between "you" and "cannot."
if you add "surely" somewhere in the part "and you cannot fail to,"
where do you insert it?
The books sais that "surely" is usually inserted either before auxiliary verb,
the beginning of a sentence, or the end of a sentence.
However, these rules don't go for the sentence I wrote at the beginning.
"Listen to what I say carefully, and you cannot surely fail to understand my true intentino." is better??
or it doesn't matter at all? |
