Which one is correct?

In/At the beginning, I don't understand his words.

' At the beginning ' is the normal use.

If you are comparing the two expressions ,' In the beginning ' is used when we refer to the beginning of time, the very first moments of life in the Universe. It's most often used in quotes from the Bible.

However ' in the beginning ' can be used if you are referring to some words, photos or images which are in the early stages of a book, film , or play.

If 'at the beginning' was used, it would mean that these words, photos, images were the amongst the very first things you read or see.
