Dear Teachers,

1. It's still pretty 'fro, and he would wear the bandana.
- What does "'fro" mean here?

2. A: You mean Justin Timberlake's film sucess and his music?
B: Yeah. They do seem down to earth and real.
- What does "down to earth" mean here?

Thanks a lot to Teachers,

Stevenukd

1. A 'fro is an Afro, that is, African hair grown long and uncombed or styled. It ends up looking like a large, round mass atop the head. Take a look at pictures of Angela Davis or Michael Jackson in the 1970s.

Justin Timberlake's hair is pretty tightly curled, so he can let it grow and leave it alone, and it looks like a 'fro. He's had his hair done a number of ways, and for a while he wore it that way, as I know because he won't get off my TV.

Your sentence means that Justin Timberlake's hair is (or was) still pretty much Afro-like, and would sometimes wear a bandana. Ooh, tell me more.

2. Down to earth means unpretentious, not phony, like a regular guy. Like Justin Timberlake's film success and music.
