Hello everyone.

I am interested in the phrase I never bother, which happened to appear in the English Center Test, a similar version of SAT in the US, conducted in January this year. (in the 4th line from the bottom of the text of: http://www.yomiuri.co.jp/nyushi/center/06/1/exam/110/2.htm)

One of my acquaintances insists that this phrase is a shortened form of I never bother myself to check the weather report. I looked in some dictionaries, but I couldnt find any explanation that supports what he says.

I think this phrase is just a shortened form of I never bother to check the weather report.

What do you think?

Best regards,
fw

It's not. It's a phrase that means "I don't worry about doing/using it".
