Hello everyone.
I understand #1 below is grammatically correct and makes sense.
Are #2 and #3 below also grammatically correct and make sense? If each is correct and makes sense, what is the difference from #1 in meaning?
1. He came in while I am asleep.
2. He came in as I am asleep.
3. He came in when I am asleep.
Best regards,

Hi fw,
Because he "came" in, it should be while I "was" asleep. You could also use "sleeping."
1. He came in while I was asleep (sleeping).
2. He came in as I was asleep (sleeping).
sounds awkward with "as" because the person was not awake to be interrupted (as I was "doing something")
3. He came in when I was asleep (sleeping).
