Hi, there!
Today I'd like to ask you about the phrase 'be different from.'
Look at the following sentences.
#1. I am different from my brother.
#2. My brother and I are different from each other.
Do these sentences have the same meaning?
Do these sentences sound awkward or funny?
In my opinion, these sentences should be more concrete, for example,
#3. I am differenct from my brother in character.
#4. My brother and I are different in character.
Otherwise, the phrase 'be different from' must not be used.
What do YOU think?
I am waiting for your kind explanation.
Thanks. |

Hi sleeper,
The two sentences have basically the same meaning, and both sound natural.
If you wanted to more precise or concrete, you might say:
My personality is different from my brother's.
