I learnt not "+verb" but "+noun." Is this combination allowed these days?
Smith wanted to see a digital camera for _Clerks II_,
the sequel to his 1994 debut hit, but his director of photography didn't
feel comfortable with the process. "A lot of directors and directors of
photography are resistant to put down what they're familiar with." (Time,

No. If you have transcribed it accurately, Hiromichi, I would say that it was a typographical error overlooked by the Time editors. It should read putting down or a put-down of.

And on re-reading the text, I suspect that the writer was confused by the similar hesitant to: are hesitant to put down would be good structure.
(By the way, my suggested a put-down of fits the sentence structure but certainly does not carry the intended meaning!)

Mister Micawber, Thank you. At first I read "hesitant," but it was "resistant." _________________ Hiromichi |
