(Question)
The answer is ③,but how about this?(Is it a correct English sentence?)
When she called his house this morning, nobody had been at home.

- - Because you want to say at the same moment that she called nobody was there.
If you use 'nobody had been at home', you convey the meaning that nobody had been at home in the period of time before she called but there is possibly someone there at the moment when she called. |
