hi!there
I do agree with your statement that nowadays secondary school is less proficient in writing. In my opinion i think they are less proficient writing in English is mainly because they do not have a good command in the language. May be they do not know enough the english vocabulary that avoiding them from writing. May be some of them prefer to write more by using other language rather than in English because they think it is hard for them to think of a word when they are trying to express the words. Or may be their English lesson in class are not interesting enough. I think the most important things is the students own attitude or perception towards the English language.so watdo you think? Smile

i'm very glad with ur response. i'm agree about u said. most of student lack of proficiency in writing because they were didn't english language in communication. they more prefer to use their mother tongue except in english clas where there have to use english. so that, they can't improve their english. this will affect them in writing. besides that, this could be happen because of the students' background. their family background will affect them.this is because they have no chance to practice what they have learned in the school.

I think that all students use their mother tongue when talking to a friend or someone else who speaks the same mother tongue. It just doesn't feel right to talk English when you can talk to each other in a language which is easier for the both of you.
I therefore think that it is essential that you speak/write to foreign people who don't speak your mother tongue. They don't have to be native English speakers themselves. As long as English is the easiest way to communicate (which it is in most cases when two people from different countries meet), it feels natural to use English.

thanx 4 ur response....yes i'm agree when u said that if we r not the native speaker we don't have to be speaks like them. we can speak English fluently and write as good as the native speaker without be the native speakers of english itself. so i really want to know ur opinion about the factor/factors that influenced students to be proficiency in English especially in writing. thank again for ur response....

Lots of great responses........good work guys!

bya- One way to improve your writing is to read as often as you can. It will help you with sentence patterns, grammar "usage" and vocabulary.
It's not realistic to expect drastic improvement "over night", but try it for a year ....(A YEAR??? YIKES!!).... :) What do you think? Philo

yeah, i'm agree with u...my teachers and lecturers also always said reading is one way to improve my writing. this is because writing is actually integrate the other skills like reading and also related to grammar and vocabulary...since that writing need more efforts to master.

thanx again 4 ur response... Laughing
