Dear Teachers,

1.- This is my girl of dream.
- This is the girl of my dream.
- Are these natural?

2. The only way to forget your ex-girlfriend is always concentrate on your career.
- Is this natural?

3. Does step out! mean beat it!?

4. How many bucks does this cost?
- Does bucks mean dollars?

5. Dont put your nose into my own business.
- Is this natural?

Thanks a lot to Teachers,

Stevenukd.

She is my dream girl or

She is the girl of my dreams

I would modify it slightly to read "is to concentrate.....

Quote:
3. Does step out! mean beat it!?

I would need more context but I would say know. Step out could mean going out for a social evening

Yes

Hey dude.

If you don't mind I give you my suggestions

I think this is the girl of my dream sounds more natural... Wink

I think you should said The only way to forget your ex-girlfriend is always

concentrating on your career...

Step out means 1 To walk briskly.
2 To go outside for a short time.
3 Informal To go out for a special evening of entertainment.
4 To withdraw; quit
Yes you are right"bucks" means U.S dollars you can use it in American slang it is imformal way to say dollars.....

Dont put your nose into my own business occurs me remember this expression.Thank you.......It is natural expression, also a funy way to say mind your business..... Wink
I am an ESL learner.the same as you........I come from China....

1: This is the girl of my dreams. <--that's what I prefer. The expression ~ of my dreams needs to be plural. Now, if you had one dream about a specific girl, and you see that girl while you're awake, you could say "That's the girl from my dream." Normally, if you're talking about an ideal, wonderful girl, it'll be "the girl of my dreams."

2: I would do a split infinitive here: The only way to forget your ex-girlfriend is to always concentrate on your career.

3: I haven't really heard "step out!" used like that, but if I did, I would understand it as "beat it!" or "get out of here!"

5: "own" isn't needed here, and this "nose in ~ business" expression can be used in other ways like, "You shouldn't stick your nose into other people's business."
