Hi,
Could anyone please tell me what 'prescription sunglasses' is? What does it look like? Is it used to help the short-sighted eyes? or is it just a regular sunglasses? I surfed the internet and found one article about prescription sunglasses but after reading it, I still have no idea what that is, because it didn't define what it is. I'd appreciate it if you can help me out with that. Thanks.

Hi, Leslie
Prescription sunglasses have tinted, (dark) glass (like regular sunglasses). But they are made to suit individual needs (prescriptions), just as regular (clear or untinted) glasses are. |

Thank you, nef. So prescription sunglasses can be sunglasses to keep the sunlight from eyes, or sunglasses used to protect eyes in medication? you mean.
Thanks once agian.

Those of us who are short-sighted or long-sighted need glasses which have 'prescription' lenses. These lenses are specially made for each individual. The 'prescription' is made by the optician when he tests your eye-sight.
Normally sunglasses only have darkened lenses. They are not specially made for each individual. Anyone can wear them.
'Prescription' sunglasses have not only darkened lenses but also the lenses are individually made for each person depending on whether they are long-sighted or short-sighted. |

The same pair of prescription sunglasses can help in 2 ways: protect against the sun AND correct for near-sightedness or far-sightedness.
Sorry, Alan. I hadn't seen your post when I posted this the first time.
Leslie, in this case "prescription" is not medication. "Prescription," as it is used here, refers to the specifications for making the lenses of the glasses. |
