In the following sentence,
"The interaction patterns of Course B show rather simpler layers of threads than those of Course A,"
can I replace 'than those of Course A' with 'compared with Course A'?
Or is it more correct if I wrote, "compared with those of Course A?" |

Use the those of form; the other is slightly illogical.
