Hello everyone.

The passage below is from a newspaper article.

It says in the fourth sentence that Imaihas been involved in the real estate business in the past. Is has been involved grammatically correct? I am wondering whether it should have been was involved, since he was fired by his employer last year and is now unemployed.

Kenji Imai had turned himself into police earlier in the day for an assault on a custodian in the same building Wednesday. Imai, unemployed, was placed under arrest for the assault on the 68-year-old female custodian. They[Police] said Imai, who is married and has three children, has been involved in the real estate business in the past and visited the Kawasaki condominium several times. He was fired by his employer last year, the police said.

Best regards,
Fw
