Some grammer book says we should say "I want to know whether you like it (or not)", but "I want to know if you like it." You shouldn't add "or not" at the end of the sentence with 'if". Is it a rule, common usage?

I want to know if you like it.
I want to know if you like it or not.
I want to know whether you like it.
I want to know whether you like it or not.
I want to know whether or not you like it.
These are all okay and all the same to me. |
