Because hes had more life experience and has been through more than younger guys, he can play something of a teacher role, he explains, adding that he once dated a woman 14 years younger than him. She still calls me today to thank me for the things I taught her, he says. Shes always been very appreciative of advice I gave her, even little things like buying a CD, after I explained that I meant certificate of deposit, and not a music album!
Could anyone explain the part regarding the album?
Thanks |

Before music CD's, there were records. They were thin, vinyl disks about a foot in diameter, and they were also called albums. Some of us oldtimers, out of habit, refer to CD's as albums.
In case you don't know, certificates of deposit (a type of savings investment) are also referred to as CD's. |

This is what the other CD is -
A certificate of deposit is a promissory note issued by a bank. It is a time deposit that restricts holders from withdrawing funds on demand. Although it is still possible to withdraw the money, this action will often incur a penalty.
CDs of less than $100,000 are called "small CDs"; CDs for more than $100,000 are called "large CDs" or "jumbo CDs". Almost all large CDs, as well as some small CDs, are negotiable. |
