Hello.
What does "keep you on the fence"
and "wearing your heart on your sleeve"mean?
Is "hitting it hard"a slang/idiom?
Also,I would like to ask someone to
explain this to me.
My penfriend wrote about her cat.
Initially,she wrote:
"She is special for our family."
So I corrected her English,
"She is special to our family."
But she can not tell where it is different. So I hope someone can explain it clearly. Thanks.

To be on the fence usually conveys indecision. Which side of the fence do you want to end up on? Or which side will you end up on? But in a personal letter, "keep you on the fence" may have meant that she wants to keep you guessing about something. That's my suspicion, anyway.

"To wear your heart on your sleeve" is to make your feelings/emotions clearly evident to others.

I agree with you that, "She is special to our family," is much more likely. Unfortunately, though, I cannot come up with a clear explanation as to why. Anyone out there know?

Yes, it's slang. It might have different meanings, but what it means to me is doing something with a lot of concentration and effort. It's being devoted to completing it effectively, and if it matters, on time, as well.
