Hello.
I sometimes see the phrase "gets its clock cleaned". What does this mean? for example:
Throughout history, any company that bases its strategy on tradition eventually gets its clock cleaned. Baseball is still making buggy whips here.

It comes from boxing, I think.
Anyway, it means to get knocked out. So, when we use the phrase for a company, it means to go out of business or lose lots of money.
