Hello,

I came across the following lyircs the other day, and some parts are elusive. Much appreciated if you could help me out. Thanks.

I don't keep a record by Art of Fighting

I don't keep a record
shadows moving children coupling
and i was stranded by myself
and i wanted to be saved
and in the roughest way
in a backyard at a party
leaving last or first or just stayed at home
where a sea of eyes was left behind
and a sea of hands couldn't reach
and that's why i don't
i don't keep a record
because there's too much looking back as it is
and if i do it on occasion
well then the saddest thing's not what you felt
but just how much you felt it
backward leaning lonely passion
and a drink once more in my hand
and a drink is all it takes
to forget my age
and that's why i don't
i don't keep a record
because there's too much looking back as it is
and if i do it on occasion
well then the saddest thing's not what you felt
but just how much you felt it
and once you go back it's on top of you
and then that's you again

My questions are:
1. What does 'coupling' mean here?
2. and in the roughest way? Wat does this phrase link to? Does it connect with 'I was stranded by myself' or ' I wanted to be saved'? Is this phrase grammatically correct?
3. Is a drink necessarily an alcohol? A drink is all it takes to forget my age? what does it mean?
4. What does it mean -it's on top of you?

Thank you very much for your time and help.

Lyrics are difficult, but my guesses are:
'coupling' is 'becoming couples'. The common meaning is having sex, but I don't think that applies here.
'and in the roughest way' suggests he wants someone to help him buy not in a kind way - they should get angry with him and order him around
'a drink' here has to be alcohol (to forget...)
'it's on top of you' maens the bad feeling is back 'controlling/dominating you'
I hope this helps.
