Hi,
Which of the following is correct? If they're both correct, is there any difference? I've heard them both used by native English speakers.
Thanks in advance for your help.
1. I haven't seen you for ages.
2. I haven't seen you in ages.

I think they're both fine.
People also say "I haven't seen you for a long time"
and "I haven't seen you in a long time." |

Thanks! Nef. So, can I make a general summary that for and in when used to show a period of time are interchangeable?

Not necessarily. For example:
I'll be in Chicago for a week = I will spend one week there sometime in the future (duration of time)
I'll be in Chicago in a week = I will arrive in Chicago one week from now |

You can do so with sentences in the negative present perfect tense or with 'first'.
According to Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English:
in
7 used with negatives or with 'first' to say how much time has passed since the last time something happened:
I haven't enjoyed myself so much in years.
It was the team's first win in eighteen months. |
