Dear teachers,
What is the nuance between "since" and "because"? Why aren't they interchangeable? Would you please give me examples?
He wanted to travel to Europe because / since (?) he hoped to find a job there.
Is "since" acceptable in the above sentence? If not really, would you please tell me why?
Thank you for your help.

Since is not possible in your sentence.
We can use 'since' to mean 'because' when the reason is already known to the listener/reader or when it is not the most important part of the sentence. Usually, 'Since' is used at the beginning of the sentence.
"Since George Bush is president, the Republicans have a great deal of power."
I hope this helps.
