In the above, does 'In between' mean 'between 1:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.' or something?

| It's not very clear because if he goes to bed at one, he would be sleeping, right? Unless there was something else written before that that refers to in between. |

It is odd, unless in between simply means when he is not sleeping.
