In the above, I think 'who' is better than 'whom' because 'who' is the subject of 'go'. What do you think about my opinion?

You could use either.
"Who" would be referring to one person, while "whom" would mean you were choosing multiple people.

I never heard of "whom" being used as plural and "who" as singular. Is that what you meant?
