Dear teachers,

Some said "since ten years ago" is not English. - "It (since) should be followed by a point in time, not a period of time. Is he correct?

Yes, "since" deals with a point in time.

Yes.
"I've lived here for ten years." or "I've lived here since 1996." both work well.
