I think Taiwan belong to China. It is right to take Taiwan as a province of China. But a lot of people don't think so. What's your opinion?

It is very important to understand the meaning of the " China".The Republic of China overturned the Qing dynasty in 1912,and the Republic of China has never been disappeared although she withdrew to Taiwan from Mainland during civil war in 1949.

The People 's Republic of China only was established in 1949,it only controlld mainland China,it has never controlled Taiwan --the Republic of China. So it is very complicated to define the "China".

If you say the Taiwan is a provice of China ,who is "China"?Do you mean "the Republic of China"or "People's Republic of Chian"?

This is very sensitive issue,Blue groop in Taiwan say "China is the Republic of China".Green groop say that the Republic of Chian is Taiwan.

In mainland China, government say the Taiwan is part of China.I don't know how mainland common people say about it.Because all the medias in mainland China are run by the government. You cann't exactly know how the ordinary people think.

In my opinion,I think Taiwan belongs to the Republic of China,Taiwan belongs to Taiwan herself. She doesn't belong to the People's republic of China.

Some mainland politicians say Taiwan is part of China,I wonder whether they really know the meaning of "China".

If the person learn the history well, he will conclude that Taiwan should belong to the Republic of China. For the Republic of China is the same one with any of the dynasty of Old Chnia. And without the money from the mainland (for the leader of taiwan bring a lot of money from the mainland to taiwan in 1940's) , taiwan won't develop so quickly. So, without any doubting, taiwan should belong to China.

Well, right now the Republic of China (Taiwan) is just a break-off of the original Chinese government. I think they should earn their right to become their own nation; fight for it! The PRC should try to reclaim Taiwan, and the RoC should try to defend their independence. But if the PRC doesn't do anything, the RoC should stay independent in my opinion.

How much money did the Repulic of China have after nealy four years furious and ruthless civil war?? The economy of the Republic of China had bankcrupted during that time, the golden price is very high, but the government of Republic of China had a lot of debts to pay .What you have heard of the so-called golden myth is just the communist paty 's propaganda which they want to fool the ordinary people why Taiwan has become prosperity and freedom at the meantime the mainland china is still poverty and oppression.

In 1949 Taiwan was just one of many chinese poverty provinces, after communist party controlled mainland china, mainland china didn't develope well until the government of People's Repulbic of China began to reform in 1979 and gradually to perform marketting economy.

However, the Taiwan has been performing marketting economy for a long time.Taiwan paid a close attention to their education, they gradually allowed opposition party to run office, finally Taiwan people could electe their leader directly through the votes, they have the freedom of press.

Considering all above, the prosperity of Taiwan should be contributed to the marketting economy and the managements of the Taiwan government and the hardwork of all Taiwanese .

I wish these (Chinese) posters would learn some history! Taiwan has, for most of modern history NOT been an integral part of China. It's native people are not Chinese!

However, Taiwan is NOW part of China. The question arises as to what will happen IF the people there decide that they no longer want to be part of China. I think that IF the Taiwanese people want independence, they should do it just before or during the Olympics in 2008. Then they will probably succeed.
