Which of the followings is grammertically correct?
The invention of 'THE' TV brought us a lot of excitement.
or
The invention of TV brought us a lot of excitement.
I asked this question because when we use the word, 'internet', we need to say 'THE' internet. _________________ YUKIKO |

I'm not sure why, but that sentence can be gramatically correct as "The invention of television..." and "The invention of the television..." |

The TV refers to physical television sets (the actual TVs that sit in livingrooms around the world); TV (no article) refers to the system of broadcasting images and sounds over distance.
So both of your sentences can be correct, depending on what you mean. |
