Hi, everyone, my name is Simon so and I live in Hong Kong. This is the first time I visit the website which recommended by the English course. I have learnt English for many years, but it is still poor, especially in grammar and speaking. I am so happy that I can join the forum since I deeply believe that it can improve my writing skills. I am so happy to see you all here. Surprised

Very Happy Hi, I'm new here. I am an Englsih learner too, so let's improve our English together. To reply this topic, I think you have a very good enviroment to improve your English, for living in Hongkong. Also I think that improving your grammar is much easier than improving your speaking, as long as you read more grammar books. As to the speaking skill, I suggest you speak more with your collegues. Since you live in Hongkong where most of people could speak English well, isn't it?Don't be shy, speak more.

HELLO SIMON,
i am a english major and i would like to share with you my experience in learning so that you don't feel frightened Very Happy
there is a saying that interest is the best teacher.once you find your interest in english, you won't find it difficult any more. for example, i like watching english movies and songs. Therefore, in order to introduce them to my fellow students , i have to remember some of the lines so that they can be more interest in my topic and hopefullly borrow my dvds or cds, which is very encouraging for my further studies!
so i suggest you find your interest first and then, english will become your helpful friends, not your enemy any more.

Hi Simon,

Your English seems pretty good to me. I don't think you have much of a problem with grammar. My tip is to relax and treat learning as a hobby. For example, learn some idioms or fun expressions by watching American movies. (I know Hong Kong cinema is pretty good, too)

Surely it will improve your writing skills, but you have to post questions that you don't understand on here. I think my writing skills have been improved since I first posted questions on here. The teachers here are very nice and excellent! Nice to see you all! Laughing
