Hi there....

I have no idea what a strawlegged mosquito is. I can imagine however that it probably has long stringy legs?

Lark is a word that suggests ...only by chance.

By means of is not a common way of saying you are going somewhere. You could say I am going to town by means of the trolley...but in the USA we would simply say I am going to town on the trolley.

I go to school in a car.

"Lark" in this usage means to do something on impulse, not on serious thought.

"She had never acted before, but she auditioned for the play on a lark and was casted in a major role."
