Hi there....
I have no idea what a strawlegged mosquito is. I can imagine however that it probably has long stringy legs?
Lark is a word that suggests ...only by chance.
By means of is not a common way of saying you are going somewhere. You could say I am going to town by means of the trolley...but in the USA we would simply say I am going to town on the trolley.
I go to school in a car. |

"Lark" in this usage means to do something on impulse, not on serious thought.
"She had never acted before, but she auditioned for the play on a lark and was casted in a major role." |
