It has been 30 years since the ending of the Cultural Revolution.
What do you think of this historical event?

In my opinion, it includes 2 meanings:
First, a simple political contention Mao waged to fight against his rivals in the Chinese Communist Party through "red guards".

Second, an approach leads to Mao's ideal: Marxism of CHINESE STYLE.
(Though his ideal didl't come true)

The culture great revolution ended 30 years ago,the govenment of mainland china has since called the 10 years culture great revolution "10 years catastrophe",but recently the government of mainland china isn't willing to bring it out, why?they just don't want people to think about what the communist regime had done to their people badly and atrociously.

Why did the supreme leader Mao launch the movements?I agree what Friedrichsaid that Mao wanted to cleanout his opponents and built his supreme leadership.

What I am now wondering is why the communist regime government of mainland china doesn't want people speak out about the historical event. If you really don't want to do that bad thing again, you should remember the events and educate younger generation about the event, but the communist regime just does the opposite. So it is very important for the international community not to forget the terrible history.

I assume the communist regime is afraid of mentioning his terrible history, according to what it has done to their people ,the mainland people would consider its goverment illegal. So the communist regime now keeps close look on its media and Internet, they censor the Internet contents and block many website from the oversea.

Now the mainland china needs freedom of press, freedom of religion and freedom of election.I don't know how long it will take for the mainland china becomes democratic country.who knows?

The Chinese government is trying to embarrass Japan over the Nanking atrocities, so it does not want the people to be reminded about the atrocities of Chairman Mao.
