Are these senteces correct ? If not, would you correct them ?

#1 Ryan Peterson gave his own testimony in the witness stand. He admitted that he blew up the housing project. He designed the project, and he didnt like other architects, who had changed the basic structure of the building.

#2 Winston's secretary called Murry back to work. Murry had a five-year contract with the Winston's Newspaper Inc. As he stepped into the middle of his office, he glanced his office in 360 degrees. A cup of hot coffee lay in the light of lamp.

#3 The nurse set up the alarm clock the other day. When the alarm rang, everyone woke up and then stood up in the room. She walked to the speaker and said " Good morning everyone "

#4 All of the sudden, the world seems to become a small place.

#5 Some terrortists outsmart the agency. They do not communicate by electronic devices. Instead they personally deliver messages on foot. Therfore, it keeps the agency in the dark.

#6 More than a billion phone calls were made every day. As a matter of fact, there is only a fraction of calls that have been analyzed. The best ways to attack terrorism is to find a terror suspect. Then we could trace his calls to other terrortists.

Thanks

Hello Welkins

I've underlined the parts that aren't correct. Do you want to try to correct them? Then I'll check them for you.

#5 Some TERRORISTS outsmart the agency. THEREFORE, it keeps the agency in the dark.

#6 There is only a fraction of calls that HAS been analyzed. The best WAY to attack terrorism is to find a terror suspect.

Minor correction: "...gave his testimony on the witness stand." I know that "in" might make more logical sense, but at least in American English, "on" is used with "witness stand" or "the stand."

Hello Welkins

1. Not quite: "...he didn't like THE other architects..." (And as LS says, "on the witness stand" is more usual; or "in the witness box", in the UK.)

2. "Looked around" is fine. The coffee cup STOOD in the light of the lamp.

3. Correct!

4. All of A sudden, the world IS BECOMING a small place.

5. "Terrorists is fine"; but probably "In this way" would be more natural than "Therefore".

6. Probably: "Only a fraction of the calls have been analyzed". "Way" is fine.

Good effort!
