Hello,

I have heard of a "school night". Is there a "school day" or something similar?

My mom didn't have to hurry me to get dressed like on school days.

Thank you,

Nawee

When you say 'school night', do you mean a celebration?

In that case, we have 'school day', meaning the annual day or the anniversary of the day the school was established. In such situations, the commemorative celebration can continue through the night too, and the whole celebration would be called "the school day celebrations."

'school day'also means a day on which the school is in session. "Go to bed early, tomorrow is a school day."

'school day' also means the time period when the school is in session. "When the school day was done, they played tennis."

Yes, I meant the days on which schools are in session. Was my original sentence ok?

Yes, your sentence is correct, but for the word 'like' in it.

My mom didn't have to hurry me to get dressed on school days.

I meant that on that particular Sat she didn't have to hurry me to get dressed like she normally does on school days.

In that case, try this sentence:

My mom didn't have to hurry me to get dressed (on saturday), like she usually has to on school days.
