Dear Teachers,

1. Im now just 23, and I dont really feel that I am some grandpa, you know?
- I am some grandpa here means Im pretty old, right?

2. I know that shes older than me, but I dont care about the disparity about ages / the disparity in years.
- Is this natural?

3. Does Thanks a whole lot mean Thanks a lot? and is this common?
4. First we have freshman, then sophomore, and the fourth year we have senior, so what do we call a third year student? Are these words applied to both college and university?

Thanks a lot to Teachers,

Stevenukd

i agree with most of what phil told you, but for #1, when someone makes a comment that "he is SOME grandpa", it is not referring to how old he is, but rather that he is a good, outstanding, or amazing grandpa - it's a compliment.

^ that's only true if it's known that he actually is a grandpa, and "some" will be stressed in that case. In example sentence #1, "grandpa" would be more stressed.

#2 -- more natural would be "I don't care about the age difference."
