I have three pets. One is dog, another is lion, and the other is pig.
Q: Do we have to put a into the sentence? (Is it necessary?) Is there any different?

Yes, you want to put in the indefinite article "a" for each animal. You could leave out the second "is" and third "is" if you wanted to.
