Helen: I find most of the time I only like selected tracks from a given album. If 8 out of 10 tracks are really good, then I prefer to buy the CD, usually over the internet. Here in the US, they arrive within a few days. More commonly, though, only 1 or 2 tracks out of 10 strike my fancy. So...I log on to MSN Music, iTunes, Napster, or some other download service and download just the tracks I like for .99 USD each. What a bargain! Then I compile them in my Windows Media Player and burn a CD on my own, usually with a mix of artists within a particular style. There seems to be a trend going on here. Older people still prefer to buy a CD since its convenient for playing on their home stereo or in their cars. Younger people tend to prefer downloading since they carry their music around on mp3 or iPOD players and listen with headphones. Best Regards - CW

nowadays, it's so popular to use a MP3 to download the music, especially for the young people.
generally speaking, there are three main reasons . first, the CD price get higher and higher, for some students, they can not afford if they want to buy all kinds of CD which they like. If the price could be a little Lower than now, there should be more people buying CDs. Second, it is because we are lazy, we do not want to spend time going to the shop. we prefer to stay at home with our computers. Besides, we want to listen to all kinds of music, internet can provide them. whenever and wherever we want, we could take out MP3 to enjoy the music, which the CD player is not that convinient

People download music illegally because guess what, it doesn't cost anything other than the price of the internet service. Kids don't like having to pay for their stuff. Therefore, we download. Paying $15 for a CD with 8 songs doesn't seem all that attractive when you're thinking in terms of getting that 8 songs for nothing except maybe 15 minutes of your time. Of course, once I get my own job I plan on paying to download mp3s, because mp3s for me are much more convenient, and I don't have that appreciation for holding a CD in my hands.

I just like to have an actual THING that I own. A cd or LP won't get deleted by a virus, I am supporting the artist, I get the album art and artist info, plus sometimes cds come with video tracks, as well.

Yes, as you mentioned above that in modern times many more people use MP3 to download and listen to listen to music. I agree with your statement. Smile Personally speaking, there are three reasons about this problem. Firstly, CDs are much more expensive than before. As a result, young people can not afford so few people go to buy CDs now. Secondly, it is more convenient for people to use MP3 to download music than to buy CDs. Thus, more people choose to use MP3 to listen to music. In addition, people now like to listen to all kinds of perfect music, especially young people. As a result, it is no use of buying so many kinds of CDs. I think it is a waste of money. To sum up, it is extremely popular to use MP3 to download and listen to music. Smile

I like to bye CD's either, and not only because my Internet is rather slow for downloading music, but because I like to have a lot of CD's with my favourite music and I like to collect them Wink Wink Wink
