Dear Teachers,

1. Im kind of broke means Im kind of short of money, right? And Im broke is worse, and it means I have no money, right?

2. I think shes head over heels in love with you.
- What does this mean?

3. John is so generous and mature. I think Hes my Mr. Right?
- What does Mr.Right mean?

Thanks a million to Teachers,

Stevenukd

1. "Broke" does mean out of money, and "kind of" is an informal way to say "rather," so "kind of broke" means either "short of funds" or "out of money." The "kind of" in conversation may be used as a sort of softener, although the speaker really means to say that he or she is really broke, busted (Amer.), or skint (Brit.).

2. Although we are usually literally head over heels--head up top, feet down below--the expression "head over heels" means to imply flipping over someone, which really does happen when you are in love.

3. "Mr. Right" is just the generic term for the right person, the one who is meant for you, who (you hope) flips for you.

Yours truly, CP
