hi msdaredevil! here's some help today...

1. yes - the dubbed voiceover can also be used for a singer on stage who is dancing. the singer will mouth the words so it looks like he or she is singing, but there is a cd off of the stage that is played with the song that is being sung.

2. stop thinking dirty thoughts is the most normal use in USA

3. yes - it's correct. i can't think of another way at the moment

4. i was grossed out, i had a yucky feeling about it...does that help?

A little more on question 1:

Dubbing over (comes from "double" originally) means to record something that will be used instead of the original voice in a film.

The dubbing could be done by the original person. In that case, he or she is putting in a better version, correcting a mistake, or putting in a milder word to replace coarse language.

Or it could be done by someone in a different language so that the viewer will hear a familiar language and not have to read subtitles. In Germany, for example, most people prefer their movies dubbed in German rather than subtitled.

I think Iitimone7 is thinking about lip-synching. The person on stage pretends to sing while the recorded song is playing.

Anything that makes you feel strange or weird could be something that weirds you out or makes you feel weirded out. Maybe you went to a party and someone odd kept wanting to talk to you, and that weirded you out. Or maybe the telephone rang several times, but no one was on the line when you answered, so you felt a little weird / weirded out / apprehensive about it. Maybe you dreamed that Joe broke his arm, then you found out that he really had broken his arm, and that weirded you out. I could go on and on, but I don't want to weird you out!
